narrative of where it all begins

Posted by Ewa Wawrzonek

When a child is small basic foundations of behavior are formed by observation. Each of us begins on our  journey of life with two parents or guardians  and through their example we learn how to behave. If this delicate balance is disturbed in any way for instance the sudden absence of one parent/guardian  then a problem is created. Children who have the absence of one guardian or from "one parent" begins to debate why the issues that are happening at home happen, causing a lack of concentration in school which leads to bad grades. School experience then turns into pain. Many of these children turn to alcohol, drugs, smoking and sex has a source to numb the pain but it only creates more problems. Later on others follow the same example. These issues destroy the strength of a community in which trust and responsibility play a crucial part. The decisions that these teenagers make now impact their future and these dangerous habits can destroy the dreams of a good job,a nice house, and a family to call their own.

One video  that I graded Teardrops by Ali talks about the environmental problems that we are facing with our water. The video is best  meets the criteria for knowledge require in is Ready for College. i think that she meets this criteria the best because to be as young as she is and to be using this technology is a big step to being active and involved in a modern and international world .I think that she has  developed a view about how the water is being affected  in the world. She did not emphasize on how important this issue is to people in other countries.i also think that she has not yet gained enough  knowledge to fully participate in the international world .

For Digital story Number 2 the topic that I have chosen is the question : what is globalization? To start elaborating on this problem one must look at the globe as entity and in that entity there are incredible changes taking place. This starts with the disappearing of the boundaries of nations in our world . The fact that travel is so quick makes it easier for people from all over the world to communicate. Modern nations are losing there identity as the currency for example changes for instance Europe which no longer has individual currencies instead  all the countries in the Union have the euro .Globalization however is causing the national belonging in individuals to certain country decrease along with ethical values. The old is rejected ,and  the new is forming. To find their way in the world people are experimenting new ways of life.Responsibly is also a big changing factor. People tend to wash themselves of responsibility for example a pilot  who is flying a plane filled with people gets high on cocaine and not able to manage it causing a crash . The situation could have been avoided. The change that we see occurring  is spreading like a wave throughout the world. There is nothing that can stop because our communication is so advanced. after WWII the Soviet Union , now Russia had the Iron Curtain which sealed them off from the rest of the world allowing no new ideas to pass through. In today's world with computers nothing can no longer remain a secret .

My Reflection

I choose to do my project on what defines "Generation Y". This story contains my view and answer to this question.I wrote about the struggle that Generation Y faces the modern world which is filled obstacles that could change the way we live our lives permanently .In this project I placed emphasis on the fact that a generation can only define themselves through their actions which will be later looked at by future generations.Only then will our generation be given a label of any sort.I choose not to talk about technology to much because I believe that technology has taken over the lives of people ,I believe that there  is much more to Generation Y then just the ipods , and laptops that consume so much time.
